In the global communicative situation, the English language has established itself as a lingua franca, leading Brazilian legislation to define the mandatory teaching of it from the 6th to the 9th year, and a growing approach from the 1st to the 5th year. Therefore, for this teaching to achieve its purposes, it is necessary to know and take into account the context of practical teacher preparation, considering the impact of the distance learning modality on this training, the low number of qualified teachers teaching English in Brazil and the growing demand for the language in Brazil. educational curriculum for children aged 6 to 10. In this sense, the objective of this work is to investigate the current scenario of training English language teachers in light of the new guidelines for distance learning degrees, imposed by the MEC. The methodology adopted was bibliographical research whose research instrument was the literature review. The conclusion was reached that more time is needed to analyze the impacts of the current MEC guidelines so that, in this way, it is possible to certify the real effectiveness of the measure and its practical implications in the bilingual education of children. Furthermore, it is also important to reflect on the continued training of current English teachers, especially teachers trained in second degree programs.
