This report presents an experience overseen by a pedagogical coordinator at Escola Municipal Álvaro Lins, involving early childhood education and lower elementary school classes. The objective of this account is to share a hands-on activity focused on artistic expression and reading, inspired by Monteiro Lobato’s book As Jabuticabas. This experience culminated in a theatrical and musical presentation at the school, where students enjoyed a moment of engagement and learning about the characters from the story. The choice of the book As Jabuticabas, by Monteiro Lobato, stemmed from the Reading Room project in celebration of Children's Book Month, in April. The theoretical foundation is based on the project “LêMundo”, developed by the Juiz de Fora Department of Education, as well as discussions from the Reading Study Group. These interactions with the book and its themes led me to recognize how enriching it can be to explore literary possibilities and connect them to various school-based activities. The work was reinterpreted on multiple levels, involving the pedagogical practices of several teachers and other professionals within the school community. This experience highlighted the power of literature in early education and the importance of fostering pedagogical connections between the reading room and classroom teachers.
