Abstract

Oral History has gained space in the field of education, especially with the appreciation of teaching narratives. However, we did not see the same in works that address and apply Oral History as a History teaching method. The present work aims to analyze the gains obtained from the elective course of Oral History in the New High School in the academic year 2024. We focus on using the discipline to develop an understanding of History with the status of science and promote methodological understanding of the production of knowledge when developing their own narratives. We will divide our work into three parts. In the first, we held a discussion on the theoretical foundation in the field of Oral History that guided the reflections, planning and practice of the Oral History discipline. In the second we describe the experience carried out with the discipline. And, finally, we will take stock of the pedagogical gains obtained in teaching History.
